The Opportunity
The Workforce Planning and Process Optimisation Lead, also known internally as the Business Lead for Delivery Optimisation, supports the Delivery Optimisation Manager by representing Construction and Maintenance, driving strategic program coordination across Transgrid. The role ensures visibility, innovation, cost certainty, and process improvement in the execution of multi-billion-dollar delivery programs over the next 5 years.
You'll help bring greater visibility to our 18-month, 3-year, and 5-year delivery pipelines by coordinating key program inputs, enabling smarter decisions, and identifying opportunities to drive efficiency and innovation across the business. While this role doesn't involve direct people management, it is highly influential, requiring strong collaboration and communication across a diverse group of stakeholders, from frontline delivery teams to senior leaders and industry partners. Your work will directly contribute to improving delivery outcomes, managing program risks, optimising cost certainty, and strengthening capability in the energy infrastructure market. You'll be instrumental in shaping how Transgrid manages a $13+ billion growth program over the next decade.
This is a strategic and coordination-focused role, driving visibility, efficiency, and innovation in delivering Transgrid's infrastructure projects, ensuring cost and schedule certainty in a complex, multi-billion-dollar program.
Your Day in the Life at Transgrid
1. Ensure compliance with all governance and safety standards.
2. Collaborate with stakeholders to align project timelines, core data inputs, and milestones.
3. Influence, monitor and support the BAU teams to ensure updated project and maintenance work demand and pipeline are captured and scheduled in a timely manner, in line with BAU standard process.
4. Identify and implement process improvements driving efficiency and cost savings / process optimisation.
5. Contribute to and support BU reporting requirements and track required work program performance metrics.
6. Support risk management and cost control initiatives.
This role is highly collaborative, focused on ensuring smooth execution of Transgrid's infrastructure projects while driving efficiency, cost certainty, and long-term planning.
About you
1. Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., Engineering, Business, Project Management, Asset Management, Finance or a related field).
2. Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certification (highly regarded).
3. Broad knowledge of transmission systems and associated customer, property, stakeholder, and corporate requirements.
4. Stakeholder management expertise, including engagement with internal teams and external partners.
5. Business planning, commercial acumen, and cost management experience for large-scale projects.
