We are a Big Picture School, focusing on personalized, authentic, and engaging experiences that meet students where they are at. Your mission is to empower young people to see and create their meaningful musical future!
Design & Deliver: Lead inclusive, hands‑on music sessions using contemporary and culturally responsive approaches.
Teach the Essentials: Provide small‑group or one‑on‑one tuition on instruments like electric drumkit, guitar, bass guitar, piano, ukulele, djembe, and voice (school‑owned and accommodating student‑owned).
Jam Out: Facilitate ensemble and jam‑based learning that champions collaboration and joy.
Tech Savvy: Introduce music technology (BandLab, GarageBand, or similar) for recording, editing, and mixing.
Goal Setter: Help students set goals, identify their musical strengths, and document their progress.
Creative Connection: Work with classroom staff to link music learning to students' Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and Big Picture portfolios.
What You'll Bring:
Experience is Essential: You must have experience in instrumental instruction, contemporary music, or production.
Bonus Points: Music production or technology experience/skills are highly valued.
Young People First: A demonstrated commitment to working across diversity and meeting young people where they are at.
A Nurturing Approach: Understanding of trauma‑informed and inclusive education practices is key.
Team Player: Ability to work both in a team and autonomously.
The Details:
Role: Instrumental Music Teacher
Commitment: 1 day per week (8.30am–4.30pm) term time
Salary Range (Pro‑Rata): $16,800 - $22,000 per annum (equivalent to a $84,000 - $110,000 full‑time salary, working 1 day per week/0.2 FTE).
