Drive your career forward with Banyule's Operations team and help keep our community clean, safe and running smoothly every day.

As a Solo Operator, you'll play an important role in keeping Banyule clean, safe and running smoothly, delivering efficient collection services across household waste, recycling, organics, commercial waste, parks waste and bundled branches. This is a hands‐on role for someone who takes pride in working safely, supporting the community and maintaining equipment to a high standard.

You'll be part of Banyule City Council's Operations Department, which delivers a wide range of essential services across the municipality, from waste and recycling collection and the Banyule Waste Recovery Centre, to road and footpath sweeping, pit and drain maintenance, litter and amenity cleaning, and the management of Council's plant and fleet.

* Collect kerbside waste in a safe and friendly manner
* Pick up public waste in parks and collect commercial waste
* Assist Council to achieve waste reduction and recovery targets, and environmental goals
* Carry out regular and routine operator maintenance on trucks in accordance with legislative requirements
* All that you do will assist Council to achieve waste reduction and recovery targets, and our environmental goals.

This is a full‐time role working 38 hours per week, with a start time of 5:15 am.

What you'll bring: skills, experience and certificates

* Current heavy rigid truck licence (HR)
* A history of safe and competent operation of vehicles with experience operating a side and rear loader and a side loading waste collection vehicle
* Experience in the collection of household garbage/recycling/organics, commercial, parks waste, dump rubbish and hard waste
* An awareness of Work Health and Safety practices
* Commitment to high customer service and ethical standards
* Proficient in the use of two‐way radio communication systems

Pre‐employment requirements

* Current Victorian Drivers Licence
* Heavy Rigid driving Licence
* Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC)
* Functional Capacity Assessment
* Psychometric Assessment
* Preferred candidates will complete a brief online psychometric assessment focused on safety, work style, and operating effectively in a largely independent role that supports a broader team.
