**Position Information**:
Scone High School is situated in the Upper Hunter Valley of NSW and is a comprehensive, secondary school with an enrolment of 315 students, of which 24% are Aboriginal.
The school community is highly committed to Visible Learning and Positive Psychological practices, with a very strong link with a cross-sectoral community of schools across the Upper Hunter.

**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
1. Capacity to lead, motivate, and coach teachers and Middle Leaders in their ongoing professional practice to build learning spaces where every student has the capacity and confidence to learn successfully.
2. Capacity to lead the implementation and evaluation of teaching and learning programs, inclusive of evidence based pedagogical approaches, curriculum implementation and effective assessment and reporting.
3. Ability to develop and monitor systems that assist in driving data informed teaching practice that supports improved student growth.
4. Capacity to lead staff in improving educational outcomes for Aboriginal students in rural communities.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
