About the Role
Roads 2000 is seeking a highly experienced Paving Plant Operator to join our growing Laying team. As a Paving Plant Operator, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining asphalt paving equipment to ensure the efficient and safe application of bituminous materials on roadways, highways, and other surfaces. This role requires adherence to safety standards, quality control measures, and operational procedures to deliver high-quality paving outcomes.
Responsibilities
 * Operate paving machines to spread and level hot bituminous paving materials and lay concrete on areas such as highways, roads, and car parks.
 * Monitor and adjust machine settings to control the flow, temperature, and thickness of the paving material.
 * Ensure the proper functioning of equipment by conducting pre-operational checks and performing routine maintenance.
 * Inspect the quality of the laid material to ensure it meets specified standards.
 * Adjust machine settings as necessary to achieve desired compaction and surface finish.
 * Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
 * Report any hazards, incidents, or equipment malfunctions promptly to supervisors.
 * Work closely with other team members, including laborers and supervisors, to coordinate tasks and ensure efficient workflow.
 * Assist in the training of junior operators and other team members as required.
 * Maintain accurate records of daily operations, including material usage, machine performance, and any issues encountered.
Experience
 * Previous experience in operating paving equipment is preferred.
 * Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
 * Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
 * Adherence to safety standards, quality control measures, and operational procedures to deliver high-quality paving outcomes.
Qualifications
 * Completion of compulsory secondary education or equivalent.
 * Relevant plant operator tickets or certifications as required.
 * Valid Driver's License.
 * White card.
