About the role

We are searching for an exceptional General Manager to lead the growth of Halter’s Australian Southern States (Victoria, Tasmania, & South Australia) Business. We’re looking for someone with commercial nous, X-factor, charisma and the ability to overcome complex challenges. This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role in leading the region's growth into the hundreds of millions of ARR.

You’ll be excited by exponential growth and feel right at home leading ambitious strategies. When the pressure is on in the biggest moments, you’ll be someone who wants to be in the game. You’ll juggle time on the ground with customers, coaching and developing your team, and driving growth strategy and cross-functional priorities within Halter. You’ll build trusting relationships, drive sales processes, manage large pipelines and enable a team, while advocating for customers with a solutions-oriented mindset.

This isn’t a typical role. This is a high-stakes role, spearheading Halter’s growth in the Southern States of Australia. You will make a real-world impact by making farming more productive and sustainable, and will build relationships across New Zealand and Australia’s influential farming leaders while working closely with senior leaders and the Halter executive team.

* Market leadership: Knowledge of the VIC, TAS and SA farm systems, alongside commercial nous and critical thinking.
* Strategic Leadership: Ability to think critically from Halter’s mission and the regional challenges to drive a strategy that expands market presence and growth. History of leading business units to ambitious goals.
* Sales & commercial: Own the end-to-end go-to-market strategy in VIC, TAS & SA, collaborating to deliver results from lead generation to conversion and customer outcomes.
* Sales Leadership & Results: Set targets, drive KPIs and motivate a team to achieve ambitious results.
* Sales Process: Understand a value-based consultative sales process and evolve Halter’s sales process for the VIC, TAS & SA markets.
* Customer Success: Drive efficient and scalable customer experiences that support retention and ARR expansion.
* Technical Team Leadership: Hands-on leader who engages with customers and teams to deliver solutions.
* Team Management: Set clear performance expectations, provide feedback, and cultivate a positive, collaborative culture.
* Training and Development: Design and implement training programs to develop capabilities.
* Recruiting: Involved in building teams, sourcing candidates and attracting talent.
* Cultural Leadership: Tenacious, gritty leadership that motivates and focuses the team.
* Set a high-performance culture: Lead with high standards and accountability while building psychological safety and inclusivity.
* Performance Management: Increase team capability and address underperformance as needed.

What your day could look like

* Field Meetings, Learnings & Feedback: Lead from the front, in the field with farmers, assist on sales and customer calls, train the team and gather customer feedback. Share insights with Product and R&D to drive improvements.
* Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement regional strategy to expand market presence and growth; identify new opportunities.
* Team Leadership: Lead a team of Territory Managers and drive commercial execution.
* State Ownership: Own state-level relationships with regional agricultural groups to drive Halter’s commercial outcomes.
* Hitting Sales Targets: Manage pipelines to meet high-growth targets; set KPIs and train the team to achieve results.
* Prospecting & Expansion: Source new leads through outbound outreach, referrals and events; manage full sales pipeline to close.
* Collaborating with Support Teams: Partner with Support to resolve issues quickly and ensure customers feel supported.
* Customer Success: Ensure a positive customer experience across the lifecycle and coordinate with support teams for retention and expansion.
* Recruiting: Source and interview candidates and support state resourcing plans.
* Networking: Build and leverage industry relationships to enhance Halter’s brand.
* Forecasting: Enable monthly and quarterly revenue forecasting with GTM leaders.

Halter in Australia

Halter entered Tasmania two years ago and now has a growing presence in the state and Queensland, with expansion in Victoria on the government’s Ellinbank Smartfarm. Halter is exploring opportunities in Victoria, NSW, SA and WA where interest is high but customer presence varies by state due to regulatory and market factors.
