Business Development Manager - Product & Specification

Are you a technically minded commercial professional with a passion for product innovation, market development, and strategic growth? Weldlok is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager – Product & Specification to drive our product strategy, elevate our brand, and ensure we remain at the forefront of industry innovation and customer satisfaction.

NEPEAN Building & Infrastructure are part of NEPEAN group that represent leading iconic Australian brands including Galintel, Weldlok and Galserv servicing various industries.

This is a pivotal, high-impact position that blends engineering know‐how with commercial strategy, product development, and marketing excellence. Operating across diverse sectors, you will work with a broad range of stakeholders whose needs, priorities, and technical contexts vary.

Working closely with the General Manager and Marketing Comms Manager, you will lead the advancement of both new and existing product groups - ensuring Weldlok remains a market leader in quality, innovation, and industry relevance.

You will play a central role in identifying market opportunities, driving specification, expanding our portfolio, and launching new product lines that meet evolving industry needs.

Key Responsibilities

* Technical Specification & Product Education: Work with architects, engineers, and designers to ensure Weldlok products meet technical requirements, are included in project specifications, and are understood through presentations such as Lunch & Learns or CPD sessions.
* Portfolio & Product Development Management: Develop deep expertise in the product lifecycle and value proposition, advise clients on optimal technical solutions, support the introduction of new products, and contribute to business cases, pricing strategies, and gross‐margin improvement initiatives.
* Market Insight, Research & Strategy: Identify market gaps, analyse trends, monitor competitor activity, gather customer insights, and translate findings into actionable strategies to guide product development, brand specification, and commercial decision‐making.
* Relationship Cultivation & Industry Engagement: Build and maintain strong, long‐term relationships with key specifiers, industry bodies, trade partners, and influencers to drive product adoption, expand market reach, and support sales strategies.
* Sales & Marketing Support: Develop high‐quality tender materials, presentations, and marketing communications; support campaigns and product launches; and provide accurate inputs for forecasting, budgeting, and market reporting.

About You

You are a driven, technically savvy professional with strong commercial instincts and deep understanding of the construction, fabrication, or infrastructure sectors.

Qualifications & Experience

* Tertiary qualifications in Structural Engineering, Business, Commerce, Marketing, Advertising, or related discipline.
* Minimum 5 years' B2B product/brand marketing experience.
* Minimum 2 years' industry experience in building/infrastructure.
* Proven background in sales engineering, product management, or marketing in a manufacturing/fabrication environment.
