We are looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic, and compassionate General Practice Nurse to join our friendly and supportive village GP surgery, working 28-32 hours per week over 4 days.
You will be working alongside a close-knit multidisciplinary team in a practice that genuinely prioritises staff wellbeing and work-life balance, resulting in high-quality, patient-focused care.

Ruskington Medical Practice is a rural, dispensing GMS practice, caring for just under 8,000 patients. Job responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and deliver care for patients with chronic and acute conditions such as asthma, COPD, diabetes, and hypertension. Refer patients to senior nurses or specialists as required.
- Assess and plan wound management, providing appropriate care.
- Conduct cytology clinics and support the nursing team by covering weekend clinics 2-3 times per year.
- Complete training and manage national vaccination programs to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
- Provide travel health assessments and appointments, and signpost patients to appropriate services.
- Participate in the Annual Flu Campaign, including weekend clinics.
- Support infection prevention and control initiatives through audits, training, and compliance monitoring.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure the correct use of clinical coding systems.
- Identify and support patients with safeguarding concerns, liaising with relevant external services to assist vulnerable individuals.
- Delegate clinical tasks safely, ensuring they are within the scope of practice.
- Assist practice management with clinical audits, protocol development, target setting, and managing the Quality Outcome Framework (QOF) to optimize performance.
- Review and update clinical protocols and policies in line with national standards.
- Maintain and monitor mandatory training records.
- Review clinical incidents and contribute to learning and improvement.
- Support the nursing team by ensuring adequate clinic coverage during staff absences.
- Flexibly cover extended hours when staff are on annual leave.
Person Specification
Experience
- Experience of working within a nursing team
- Experience of dealing with vulnerable patients and members of the public
- Experience of working in a GP practice
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse - Valid NMC pin
- Evidence of NMC revalidation if post 3 years of qualifying
- Evidence of up-to-date clinical skills
- Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) commensurate with the nursing field
- Evidence of up-to-date mandatory training
- Broad knowledge of clinical governance
- Clinical knowledge in the following areas:
- Wound care/removal of sutures and staples
- ECGs
- Venepuncture
- New patient medicals
- Immunisations routine, childhood, and travel
- Women's health, cervical cytology, contraception, etc.
- Chronic disease management awareness for:
- Diabetes
- CHD
- Asthma
