Community Childcare Inc invites expressions of interest from suitably qualified professionals to join its Management Committee as a volunteer committee member.
This is an unpaid, executive governance role with a community-based not-for-profit organisation operating early childhood education and care services in Queensland.
1.Nature of the role
Management Committee members collectively act as the governing body of Community Childcare Inc and are responsible for:
* Strategic oversight and organisational direction.
* Financial stewardship, risk management, and compliance.
* Policy oversight and governance assurance.
* Supporting the organisation's purpose, sustainability, and regulatory obligations.
Committee members act in accordance with the organisation's constitution and applicable legislation and governance standards.
2.Skills and experience sought
Expressions of interest are welcomed from individuals with experience or expertise in one or more of the following areas:
* Governance, board or committee participation.
* Legal, accounting, finance, audit, or risk.
* Human resources, workplace relations, or compliance.
* Early childhood, education, or community services.
* Strategy, leadership, or not-for-profit governance.
Previous governance experience in not-for-profit organisations is advantageous but not essential.
3. Membership requirement (mandatory)
In accordance with the organisation's constitution:
* Management Committee members must be members of Community Childcare Inc, and
* Any successful applicant who is not already a member must be admitted as a member of the organisation prior to appointment to the Management Committee.
4. Eligibility and regulatory screening (mandatory)
Due to the nature of the organisation's operations and regulatory environment, appointment to the Management Committee is conditional upon the following prior to the appointment:
* obtaining a current National Police Certificate, and
* holding and maintaining a Queensland Blue Card (Working with Children Check).
Ongoing appointment is subject to continued compliance with these requirements and all applicable governance and regulatory obligations.
5. ACNC Governance Standards
As a registered charity, Community Childcare Inc is required to comply with the ACNC Governance Standards.
Accordingly, Management Committee members must:
* Act with reasonable care and diligence, in good faith, and in the best interests of the organisation
* Manage actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest appropriately
* Not misuse their position or information obtained through their role
* Ensure the organisation's resources are applied solely towards its charitable purposes
* Support the organisation's compliance with applicable laws and regulatory obligations
Appointment and ongoing service on the Management Committee are subject to these standards.
6. Time commitment
* Approximately 5-6 hours per month.
* Attendance at scheduled committee meetings (generally outside business hours).
Appointment and tenure in accordance with the organisation's constitution.
7. Important governance information
* This is a volunteer role and no remuneration is provided.
* The role does not create an employment relationship.
* Committee members are subject to fiduciary, statutory, and constitutional duties.
* Appointment is subject to the organisation's constitution, internal governance policies, and applicable legislation.
