In this role, you'll:
* Join Sydney Metro's talented Technical Services team responsible for technical services and best practice activities to improve accountability and assurance.
* Lead and continuously improve systems engineering and safety assurance frameworks to ensure consistent, compliant delivery across Sydney Metro projects.
* Provide authoritative systems engineering leadership and advice across design, delivery and operational readiness phases.
* Oversee the development, integration and assurance of engineering requirements, ensuring traceability, verification and validation throughout the lifecycle.
* Identify and manage systems engineering and safety risks, resolving non conformances and emerging issues to maintain performance and compliance.
* Act as a trusted senior technical advisor, working with delivery partners, regulators, operators and internal stakeholders to assess assurance evidence and achieve integrated outcomes.
* Deliver high quality strategic reporting and insights that support executive decision making and drive continuous improvement.
* Lead, develop and coach a team, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration and accountability.

About you
You are a senior systems engineering professional who thrives in complex, fast paced, safety critical environments. You balance strategic thinking with technical depth, lead with credibility, and influence outcomes across diverse stakeholder groups. You are confident operating with high autonomy, managing risk, and navigating competing priorities, while embedding assurance, compliance and continuous improvement. You also demonstrate:
• Extensive experience in systems engineering and safety assurance within large, complex infrastructure or transport programs.
• Strong capability in requirements management, systems integration, verification and validation, and lifecycle assurance.
• Proven ability to lead assurance activities across multiple technical disciplines and delivery partners.
• Experience providing clear, defensible advice and reports to senior executives, regulators and governance forums.
• Strong communication, planning, collaboration skills.
• Tertiary qualifications in engineering from a recognised institution, or equivalent demonstrated professional experience.
• Membership of Engineers Australia or a relevant professional body.
• Identified as a Rail Safety Worker.
