Offer description

Amity Health is seeking a qualified and motivated Intake & Assessment Worker to join our Integrated Primary Mental Health Care (IPMHC) Program, providing high-quality, person-centred intake and assessment services to individuals seeking mental health support.

As the first point of contact for the IPMHC Program, this role plays a critical role in ensuring people receive timely, appropriate and responsive care. You will be responsible for initial client engagement, screening, intake, risk assessment, prioritisation of need, and allocation to appropriate service pathways.

About the Program

Funded by the WA Primary Health Alliance, the IPMHC Program provides free mental health support to individuals across the Wheatbelt and Great Southern regions. The program delivers counselling services and clinical care coordination through three tailored service streams:

* Wellbeing Counselling – Self-referral for individuals aged 18 and over, offering up to three sessions focused on wellbeing, education and skill development.

* Mental Health Therapy – GP referral for individuals aged seven and over, providing six to ten sessions of structured therapeutic support.

* Clinical Care Coordination – Supporting GPs to care for individuals with severe and persistent mental health conditions through an integrated, holistic approach.

About the Role

This is an integral and highly valued role that underpins and supports our established, high-performing clinical team to deliver essential mental health services across regional Western Australia.

Key responsibilities include:

* Providing timely, respectful and culturally safe intake responses to individuals, families, carers and referrers

* Conducting initial needs assessments, including assessment of psychosocial distress, functional impairment and mental health risk, using organisational tools and clinical guidelines

* Identifying and responding to risk, escalating complex or high-risk presentations in line with clinical governance requirements

* Providing short-term clinical input, information and support while clients await service allocation, where appropriate

* Coordinating referrals and collaborating with internal clinicians and external service providers to support integrated care

* Maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation, assessment records and data within client management systems

This is a full-time position (76 hours per fortnight) based in Albany.

About You

You are a values-based, team-oriented clinician who builds strong relationships and keeps clients and colleagues at the centre of your work. You will bring:

* Tertiary qualifications in mental health, occupational therapy, social work, psychology, or a related discipline

* Demonstrated experience in intake, assessment or frontline clinical roles within mental health, community health or related services

* Ability to undertake risk screening, identify red flags and escalate appropriately

* Strong communication skills, including the ability to build rapport, de-escalate distress and engage people during vulnerable moments

* Sound understanding of recovery-oriented practice, trauma-informed care and culturally safe service delivery

* Ability to manage competing priorities, maintain accurate records and meet program timeframes

* Competency using client management systems and clinical documentation tools
