Salary:
$16.52 to $18.17 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Positions are available in the North, Central, and South areas of the County. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and includes standby, overtime, and holidays as needed. Performs entry-level service work assisting with the repair, installation, and maintenance of water, wastewater, and reclaimed water utility system lines and lift stations.
Requirements:
* High school diploma or its equivalent, as required by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP).
* Six (6) months of experience in plumbing, construction, or mechanical repair and/or maintenance of industrial mechanical equipment.
* Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
* Must possess a valid Florida driver's license and maintain it during employment.
* Must be physically capable of properly wearing and utilizing all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respiratory protection.
* Must obtain within six (6) months a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)/Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) Basic Flagger certification and maintain it during employment.
* Must complete within eighteen (18) months a Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Water Distribution System Operator Level 3 license or Wastewater Collection Technician Level 3 certification and maintain it during employment.
* Must complete all Mandatory Training for New Employees within nine (9) months of employment.
* Ability to work planned and unplanned overtime, including during emergencies such as hurricanes or storms.

Physical Activities / Traits:
1. The employee must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull 50 lbs. or more.
2. In an eight-hour day, the employee may have to stand, walk, sit, and drive for 5-8 hours each.
3. Repetitive tasks include fine manipulation, operating foot controls, pulling, pushing, and simple grasping.
4. The employee must be able to balance, bend, climb, crawl, dig, jump, kneel, reach, run, smell, and stoop.
5. Must have good color perception, distant and near vision, hearing, speech, and use of both eyes.
Working Conditions:
1. Will work at heights, below ground level, in cold, damp, hot, humid, dusty, noisy, or hazardous environments, and with chemicals, electricity, fumes, and other hazards.
2. May work alone or with others, inside or outside, on ladders or scaffolding, and on uneven surfaces.
