Overview
The Yorke and Northern Local Health Network are currently seeking Registered Midwives to join their CenSTaR Candidate Pool 2025/2026. Registered Midwives will contribute to the delivery of professional, high‐quality nursing care aimed at improving patient health outcomes across the network's sites. Multiple casual positions are available for those willing to work over seven days, including night duty.
About the position
The YNLHN Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) commenced in 2019 and was one of the first MGP models in regional South Australia. The program includes five birthing suites with the network, approximately 540 births each year and up to 700 women cared for. The MGP model is all‐risk with level‐3 capability. Midwives lead maternity care collegially with GP Obstetricians and Obstetric Specialists under the Australian Midwifery Council consultation and referral guidelines.
The YNLHN received the 2020/21 SA nursing and Midwifery Excellence Award for "Excellence in Person‐Centred Care" and was the first regional LHN to receive BFHI accreditation in 2021. Midwives are encouraged to maintain scope of practice, pursue endorsement and credentialling, leadership opportunities, women's health specialisation and ongoing professional development.
About you
* Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse and/or Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and a current practising certificate.
* Preferred: at least 3 years post‐registration experience.
* Experience or willingness to gain experience in Midwifery Group Practice or continuity care models.
* Demonstrated competence in relevant nursing practice aligned with professional standards.
* Effective communication, problem‐solving, conflict‐resolution and negotiation skills.
* Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
* Experience supervising assistants in midwifery, student midwives, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses.
