A local government organisation close to the northern suburbs of Melbourne. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence land use planning and environmental compliance in one of Victoria's most rapidly evolving regions.
Your new role
* Monitor compliance with the Hume Planning Scheme, Planning Permit conditions, and relevant environmental legislation, especially within the Urban Growth Zone.
* Provide expert technical advice and assess land use planning applications to ensure alignment with environmental regulations, local policy, and best practice management.
* Lead proactive and reactive investigations into potential breaches of the Planning and Environment Act 1987, focusing on early intervention in subdivision developments and land uses within the inter-urban break.
* Collaborate with statutory planners, developers, and internal/external stakeholders to resolve non-compliance and foster a culture of accountability and transparency.
What you'll need to succeed
* Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
* Local Government experience and/or facilitation of planning permits for greenfield subdivision developments.
* Skilled in conducting pre-commencement and final inspections to ensure compliance with environmental permit conditions, CSEMPs, and endorsed plans.
* Proven ability to deliver environmental planning advice within statutory frameworks.
* Strong grasp of Victoria's environmental challenges, including vegetation, waterways, geomorphology, and soil health.
* Knowledge of WSUD, Integrated Water Management, and industrial stormwater practices.
* Solid compliance experience and understanding of environmental legislation
