The Opportunity
If you are looking for a role that can genuinely accelerate your career, this is one to stop and read.
Wilmar Sugar & Renewables is one of Australia's largest and most complex agribusinesses, operating in a highly unionised, regulated and regionally based environment. Workplace relations sits at the heart of how our business operates, and opportunities to step into this space do not come around often.
This role offers a rare chance to move beyond a traditional admin or coordinator position and gain real, hands‑on exposure to workplace and industrial relations, supported by an established and experienced Workplace Relations team.
You will be trusted with sensitive information, critical documentation and the coordination that underpins real workplace matters across multiple sites. The work is structured, detailed and important and it gives you visibility and experience that many people do not get until much later in their careers.
For the right person, this role can be the platform that takes you from where you are now into a long‑term career in workplace or industrial relations, an area where specialists are in demand and opportunities like this are genuinely rare in North Queensland.
You'll join a Workplace Relations team that genuinely enjoys working together, sharing knowledge and supporting one another to get the best outcomes.
What we are looking for
We are looking for someone who is strong in the fundamentals and ready to build on them. This may come from an administrative role looking to step into HR, or from experience as a Workplace Relations Coordinator or Business Partner. This role moves beyond traditional administration, offering the opportunity to partner with leaders on real workplace matters across a complex, unionised and regulated business.
In this role, you will -
* Prepare, manage and maintain workplace relations documentation, correspondence, case files and registers, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality and compliance
* Coordinate workplace relations processes across multiple Wilmar sites, including meetings, communications, consultations, timelines and next steps
* Provide administrative and coordination support for investigations and performance management processes, including document preparation, record‑keeping and meeting coordination
* Support the administration of Enterprise Agreements, policies and procedures, including updates, tracking and communication
* Assist with sexual harassment prevention and respectful workplace initiatives through coordination, documentation and compliance tracking
Your background might be in:
* HR or People & Culture administration or coordination
* Payroll, finance, compliance or governance
* Another structured role where accuracy, confidentiality and strong process matter
We will also consider candidates with more experience who are looking for broader exposure and a clear development pathway.
You will enjoy this role if you:
* Take pride in getting things right
* Are comfortable working with detail, structure and process
* Can manage multiple tasks without losing focus
* Communicate clearly and follow through
* Are curious about workplace and industrial relations and keen to learn
Formal qualifications in HR or IR are not essential. What matters most is your discipline, reliability, sound judgement and motivation to grow.
