Cook - Indian Cuisine Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Cook to join our team in preparing and cooking Indian dishes. As a key member of the kitchen staff, you will be responsible for maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
* Inspire and select fresh ingredients to prepare a variety of Indian dishes, ensuring consistency and quality.
* Prepare and season dishes using authentic Indian methods, including curries, tandoori items, and breads.
* Maintain food preparation and portion control to meet customer expectations and ensure food safety.
* Operate and clean kitchen equipment, such as ovens, grills, and fryers, to maintain a clean and hygienic environment.
* Plan and coordinate food production to meet dine-in, takeaway, and catering orders.
* Ensure compliance with Australian food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and storage areas.
* Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and service, providing excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will need:
* At least 1 year's experience in a commercial kitchen, preferably with Indian cuisine expertise.
* A relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery or equivalent, such as a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.
* Solid knowledge of Indian cooking techniques, spices, and food presentation.
* Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
* Commitment to food hygiene and safety standards.
