About the Role

This Senior Policy Officer role plays a key part in shaping high‑quality, research‑driven policy that supports community outcomes and strengthens organisational programmes. You will provide expert analysis, develop policy frameworks and contribute to reforms that directly influence strategic decision‑making. The position requires strong stakeholder engagement capabilities, as you will support cross‑agency coordination and prepare high‑level briefs, correspondence and supporting documents.

* Senior Policy Officer – $600/day + super
* Location: Parramatta, 2‑3 days in the office
* Start Date: 12/12/2025
* Duration: Until 30/06/2026
* Hours: 40 hours per week
* Background checks: Police Check + two verbal references
* Submission deadline: 3 days


Key Responsibilities

* Develop and update policy frameworks, guidelines and supporting documents.
* Conduct research and analysis across legislation, codes and sector trends.
* Prepare briefs, reports, correspondence and recommendations for senior leadership.
* Create project plans to guide policy development and review cycles.
* Consult widely with internal teams, community partners and government stakeholders.
* Coordinate policy initiatives, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities.
* Assess policy impacts and provide evidence‑based advice on options and risks.
* Support implementation and change activities linked to new or revised policies.
* Evaluate the effectiveness of programmes and policies using data and evaluation insights.
* Facilitate workshops, consultations and meetings to gather stakeholder input.
* Maintain strong governance practices, including documentation and quality assurance.
* Monitor emerging issues to inform policy planning and future reform needs.


About You

* Demonstrated experience developing policy within government or a large, complex organisation.
* Strong analytical ability with experience interpreting legislation and regulatory requirements.
* Excellent written communication skills, with a track record of producing briefs and policy documents.
* Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to deadlines.
* Effective stakeholder engagement skills across diverse groups and communities.
* Proficiency in project planning and coordination.
* Ability to apply data, evidence and research to inform policy recommendations.
* High cultural awareness and commitment to inclusive policy development.
* Strong judgment and ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
* High level of digital literacy, including use of collaboration and document‑management systems.
* Willingness to travel across sites as required.
* Sponsorship is not available for this role.
