Hays Canberra are looking for a Service Technician who will lend their mechanical/technical expertise to our client who service a wide range of commercial, retail, institutional and industrial customers. This position represents a great opportunity to combine your customer service and technical skills.
**Your new role**
Ideally, you will have Automatic door knowledge, however this is not essential. We are looking for someone that is mechanically minded and has a basic understanding of electrical safety principles. This role suits someone who can work independently and is passionate about what they do. Previous experience in Electrical or Mechanical trade industries is highly advantageous.
No two days will ever be the same and you will be responsible for carrying out preventative maintenance, breakdown repair and fault diagnosis and some major works to Automatic, Swing & Revolving Doors. This role will also provide support for other company products from the installation to both new construction and existing clients.
Other day to day duties include:
- Driving between customer sites
- Using a variety of manual or battery-operated hand tools
- Repairing / upgrading automatic door operators as required (e.g. removing and replacing parts)
- Working at various heights (ground, waist, or eye level and overhead) to drill holes in door frames (often at shoulder height while standing on a ladder), preventative maintenance of sliding and swing door operators. And to inspect, test, service (adjust, lubricate, and clean) the door system (floor guides, motion sensors, operator unit)
**What you'll need to succeed***
- Current Drivers licence
- White Card & Asbestos Awareness
- Working with Children Clearance
- Police Clearance
- Product knowledge and diagnostic capabilities.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Mechanical knowledge.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Previous experience within Electrical or Mechanical trades is highly advantageous
