Station Safety Specialist
This is a challenging role that requires the right candidate to oversee station safety systems, manage risk and ensure the wellbeing of expeditioners.
Job Description:
The Station Safety Advisor will be responsible for overseeing the station's safety systems, managing risk and ensuring the wellbeing of Antarctic expeditioners. This role requires a high level of expertise in occupational health and safety and the ability to work independently under broad direction.
Essential Requirements:
* A minimum Diploma in WHS or other relevant tertiary qualification, or a minimum of 5 years' experience working in WHS roles within high-risk work environments such as the construction, petrochemical or mining industries.
* Current, unrestricted 'C' class (manual) Australian driver's licence.
* Australian citizenship is required.
Additional Requirements:
* Valid passport with an expiry date at least 6 months beyond the planned end date of your intended stay in the Antarctic or sub-Antarctic.
* Provide First Aid (HLTAID***) certification that is valid for at least 18 months beyond the date of commencement.
* Provide Basic Emergency Life Support (HLTAID010) certification that is valid for at least 18 months beyond the date of commencement.
* Provide CPR (HLTAID009) certification that is valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of commencement.
Benefits:
The annual base salary starts from $102,380 per annum when in Australia. Base salary + additional allowances start from $172,917 per annum when in Antarctica. A generous employer superannuation contribution of up to 15.4% will be paid in addition to salary and allowances. You will accrue recreation leave at the equivalent of 20 days per annum pro rata. Recreation leave is not available in Antarctica but will be paid out on return to Australia.
