We are seeking an experienced and dedicated geriatrician to join our team in providing expert care to patients. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering comprehensive consultative and inpatient and outpatient geriatric services, including Hospital in the Home, while contributing to medical education and advanced trainee supervision.


About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated geriatrician to enhance our medical services and make a meaningful impact in the community.

* Key Responsibilities:
* Providing expert geriatric care to inpatients and consultative services.
* Delivering care through Hospital in the Home programs.
* Leading and contributing to educational activities for the Department of Medicine.
* Supervising advanced trainees, fostering the next generation of specialists.
* Willing to participate in clinical services development projects and change management.

Requirements:

* Primary medical degree registered with AHPRA.
* Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (Geriatric Medicine).
* Recent, comprehensive experience in Geriatric Medicine.
* Dual Fellowship in Geriatric & General Medicine (desirable).

The Medical Department at our hospital is a key provider of specialist and acute medical care, with a strong focus on education, training, and multidisciplinary collaboration. Services include:

* General Medicine - providing comprehensive care for a diverse patient population.
* Geriatric Medicine - inpatient care, consultative services, rehabilitation, and Hospital in the Home.
* Acute and Chronic Disease Management - including heart failure, respiratory, oncology and diabetes services.
* Palliative Medicine - providing direct clinical care to patients and families referred to our Palliative Care Service, with a strong focus on community-based care.
* Medical Education and Training - involvement in teaching, supervision of trainees, and professional development opportunities.
* Collaboration with Tertiary Centres - working closely with John Hunter Hospital and other Newcastle-based facilities for specialist referrals and shared patient care.
