Part-time (80% FTE, 29 hours per week), ongoing appointment
The Opportunity

You'll work closely with academics, researchers, and external partners to design, deliver, and evaluate high-quality education and training programs for diverse learner groups. As part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team, you'll also play a key role in shaping new program initiatives and supporting meaningful community engagement.

You will

advance the Thompson Institute's mission by contributing to the integration and translation of mental health and neuroscience research into education and training programs that support prevention, early intervention, and the effective management of mental health conditions across the lifespan;
design, deliver, and evaluate high-quality, evidence-informed education and training programs, including graduate, workplace, and community offerings, that reflect contemporary best practice, emerging research, and the needs of diverse learner cohorts; and
enhance the Institutes' community engagement and impact by contributing to the development of education initiatives that strengthen relationships with external partners and stakeholders and contribute to the growth of diverse revenue streams for the Institute.
About you

You're a relationship-builder who brings a calm, professional presence to every interaction. An active listener with strong conflict-resolution skills, you handle challenging situations with confidence, discretion, and an openness to new ideas. Motivated and highly organised, you manage competing priorities with ease and draw on strong problem-solving abilities to keep work moving forward. You work effectively both independently and within a multidisciplinary team, and you bring empathy, sensitivity, and respect when supporting people with lived experience of mental health challenges, including suicidality.

You will possess:

Completion of a relevant health, counselling, health promotion or science communication degree with current unrestricted registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or other relevant registration body;
At least 4 years relevant experience working in a mental health and education and training role with demonstrated ability in teaching, facilitation, and public speaking to deliver evidence-based programs for a variety of graduate, corporate and community audiences;
Demonstrated experience and confidence in being able to deliver educational programs through a variety of platforms including face to face and online;
Evidence of a high level of interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills including the ability to establish strong links with diverse consumers with graduate-level training needs as well as the ability to negotiate effectively and work through issues constructively with team members and relevant internal and external stakeholders;
Understanding of, and ability to effectively translate research outcome and apply, health promotion and preventative principles to graduate and workplace education activities with a strong consumer focus; and
Ability to show sensitivity and empathy when working with people with lived experience of mental health disorders including suicidality. Trauma-informed care training and experience is highly desirable.
