We are looking to hire a results-oriented, technically skilled Regional Sales Manager for our expanding sales team in Castle Hill, NSW. This role involves managing a geographical area across NSW and overseeing a diverse customer base, including OEMs and end users in various industries such as food and packaging.
The Regional Sales Manager will lead a team of up to four Area Sales Managers, optimising resources within the assigned territory to achieve sales growth that aligns with national and branch budget, profit, and market share objectives. A key focus will be on guiding the sales team to deliver quality customer service and technical support while adhering to established procedures.
Key Responsibilities
* Liaison with Head of Sales to assist in developing the regional territory budget, aligning field sales activities with budgeted sales goals.
* Promote SMC products, services, and solutions to existing customers to drive sales, ensuring accurate pricing and availability information.
* Lead and ensure the sales team executes required standard work, including achieving invoiced sales and intake to budget, along with bid generation and follow-up.
* Oversee the timely follow-up on customer quotations and bids, striving to maintain a successful conversion rate of 60% within the designated region.
* Create and implement a cold calling strategy for the assigned region while building and managing relationships with new and existing customers.
* Participate in designated market activities and conduct customer surveys to monitor satisfaction levels and enhance sales and market penetration.
* Schedule weekly sales review meetings and one-on-one sessions with reporting employees to monitor progress in their assigned regions and ensure that individual sales efforts align with the KPIs established by the sales leadership team.
* Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
* Collaborate with the HR department to define hiring needs, participate in the recruitment process, and ensure the successful integration of new sales team members when required.
* Generate and maintain comprehensive sales reports that track individual and team performance metrics against targets.
Qualifications & Skills
To excel in this role, you should have:
* Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or relevant mechanical trade background with technical aptitude/skills.
* Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in technical field sales, specifically with electrical or mechanical engineered products.
* Leadership skills in managing a sales team, along with the ability to coach and drive performance, are highly valued.
* Proven track record of meeting KPIs and a strong motivation for self-development and success.
* Solid knowledge of pneumatic control, instrumentation, and product application.
* Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills, with an ability to network effectively.
* Strong problem-solving capabilities and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
* Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
* Experience with CRM systems is essential.
* Proficient in MS Office and demonstrated IT literacy.
