The Colac Otway Shire Council are seeking an exceptional individual to join our Connected Communities Department as an Enhanced Family Support Worker**.**

As an **Enhanced Family Support Worker** you will:
- Ensure Council offers flexible, responsive assistance to families experiencing vulnerability within the Colac Otway Shire. The position promotes the safety of children and supports families to work on negotiated goals that will approve the safety, health and wellbeing of the family. The work comprises of casework, counselling, support and group work in their homes or other settings. The employee will work as a team member within the Maternal & Child Health (MACH) Team engaging and working with vulnerable families.
**K**ey responsibilities include**:
- Undertake low to medium intensity direct work with families, infants and young children providing support and case consultation.
- Engagement with vulnerable families using proactive and assertive outreach.
- Act as an advocate for children, parents, the community and the Maternal and Child Health Service as appropriate.
- To provide support and skills development for vulnerable and complex families with support from experienced MACH staff.
- Conduct home visits with Maternal and Child Health Nurses.
- To develop working relationships and partnerships with MACH staff as well as community and government-funded community agencies, including Orange Door and Child Protection services to improve outcomes for vulnerable children and families within the Colac Otway Shire community.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Participate in group work like Circle of Security and First Time Parents groups.
- Provide a culturally safe response to Aboriginal and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) families.
***About You**:
To support your success in this role you will have:
- An appropriate tertiary qualification in social work or welfare studies.
- Current experience and skills in providing support and casework to vulnerable families using a variety of intervention skills.
- Demonstrated experience as a highly skilled, independent practitioner requiring minimum supervision and a commitment to deliver an excellent standard of client service.
- Highly developed assessment and referral skills.
- Demonstrated ability to liaise, negotiate and problem solve with service users and other professionals.
- Demonstrated ability to manage conflicting pressures to ensure service requirements and programs are delivered.
- A knowledge and understanding of the Child Protection system.
- Current Drivers' Licence.
**Salary information: $47.52 to $52.56 per hour plus superannuation.**
