Ages 21–28 | Sporty, Fun & Active | Casual & Part‑Time
We’re looking for male community access workers (mentor‑style role) who are 21–28, sporty, fun and fit to support NDIS participants across the Central Coast (priority) and Lake Macquarie.
This is not a passive “sit on your phone” support job.
You’ll be moving, playing, teaching and joining in.
The role
You’ll be working 1:1 (sometimes 2:1) with NDIS participants (mostly teens and young adults) to:
* Get out of the house: gym, sport, walks, beach, bowling, parks
* Play and teach a wide range of sports and active games
* Build simple weekly routines and basic life skills in real‑world settings
* Support people on “good days and hard days” with patience and consistency
* At times, provide personal care and support participants with behaviours of concern (with training and clear plans)
* Complete basic progress notes and follow safety/compliance processes
We usually start with a few hours per week and build your roster over time as the fit is confirmed with participants and families.
Most shifts are weekday, with some after‑school or occasional Saturdays and Sundays by agreement. Minimum shift length is usually 2-3 hours.
You are
* Male, aged 21–28
* Genuinely sporty, fit and active – happy to move all shift
* Can play/learn/teach lots of different sports and keep things fun
* Patient, calm and able to handle emotions and behaviours without taking it personally
* Reliable – you show up when you say you will
* Mature enough to follow a plan and ask for help when you need it
Bonus (not required):
* Experience in disability, youth work, mental health, coaching, sport or similar
* Lived experience with psychosocial / mental health or neurodivergence
Requirements (or willing to get quickly)
* Driver’s licence + reliable car suitable for transporting participants
* Current First Aid & CPR
* NDIS Worker Screening Check (or eligible to apply)
* Working With Children Check (NSW)
* Right to work in Australia
What we offer
* SCHADS Award casual or part‑time rates (level based on duties)
* Small hours to start, then roster built steadily as you prove fit and reliability
* Central Coast priority placements, plus Lake Macquarie options
* Ongoing training, supervision and real‑time support
* A small, tight team that actually cares who you are
