The position works closely with the Office of the General Counsel and other legal representatives to prepare and review affidavits and other legal documentation to be used in court. The Senior Project Officer is also responsible for overseeing the interstate and international prisoner transfer programs, including the assessment of applications and the provision of recommendations to the Minister for Corrections. As a Senior Project Officer, some of your duties will include: Support the coordination and management of Sentence Management Division related legal matters, including working closely with the Office of the General Counsel and other legal stakeholders in the preparation and quality assurance of affidavits and other court related documents.Manage the application process for people in custody applying to transfer their sentence interstate or overseas, including the assessment of applications and then the preparation of briefings seeking support for your recommendations from the Minister for Corrections.Build strong stakeholder relationships across Sentence Management Division and the broader Corrections and Justice Services portfolio to facilitate information sharing in a timely manner to meet strict deadlines for court matters. About You To be successful in this role, you will have: Demonstrated experience in the preparation of high-level written communications, such as briefing papers, complex correspondence and reports.Demonstrated experience in the development and quality assurance of statements for court.A demonstrated understanding of the statutory requirements regarding interstate and international prisoner transfers is preferred.Demonstrated and well developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
