You will engage in internal and external collaborations that influence teaching practices, policies, and/or knowledge. As a teaching-focused academic, these two fixed term offerings are to support: SOCY1030 Introduction to Health, Illness and Society in Semester 2, 2025 and engage in the collegial life of the School (0.45 FTE) SOCY2340 An Urban World in Semester 2 and engage in the collegial life of the School (0.4 FTE) Key responsibilities will include, but not limited to: Teaching: Develop and deliver courses, engage in curriculum design, coordinate courses, assess students, provide academic counselling, and adhere to university teaching rules. Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values. About the School of Social Science The School of Social Science is located in the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Science. It is one of the leading social science schools in Australia. About You Applicants should possess a PhD or near completion of a PhD in Sociology. Additionally, you will demonstrate: Demonstrated knowledge in a relevant field or sub-field of Sociology. Demonstrated ability to teach effective courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels using active learning and flexible approaches to teaching, including teaching online. Well-developed communication, interpersonal and consultative skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in teaching and learning. Capacity to use a range of online systems and platforms in teaching and learning (e.g. Blackboard, electronic course profiles etc.).
