Lead Data Analyst

About the role
We are seeking an experienced Lead Data Analyst to design, analyse and deliver trusted, high quality data insights that support complex business and technical outcomes. This role operates at a senior leadership level and is responsible for driving the development of scalable data solutions, managing complex analytics workloads, and providing technical direction across large initiatives.
You will play a key role in solving complex data challenges, leading analytical workstreams, and mentoring team members while working closely with business and technical stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
* Lead analysis, design, development, prototyping, testing and ongoing maintenance of data solutions
* Deliver high quality solutions to complex business problems and technical requirements
* Perform detailed analysis of technical requirements and provide solution recommendations
* Translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible language for non technical stakeholders
* Ensure strong data integrity across source and destination systems
* Manage release processes including go live support and ongoing maintenance
* Provide technical leadership, mentorship and knowledge sharing within the team
* Analyse and evaluate complex business processes to identify improvement opportunities
* Ensure adherence to software development methodologies and security standards
* Design and implement enterprise data warehouse, data lake and data engineering solutions
* Conduct feasibility assessments including effort, risks, costs and benefits
* Perform root cause analysis on data issues and processes
* Develop and enhance data engineering frameworks and best practices
* Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver projects on time and to quality standards
* Contribute to planning, process improvement and performance strategies
* Prepare technical documentation, reports and executive level correspondence
* Support senior management with technical expertise and insights
* Drive capability uplift through coaching, mentoring and succession planning
Skills and experience
* Minimum 4 years experience developing Universes and reports in SAP Business Objects
* Proven experience building dashboards using Power BI Report Server or Power BI Service
* Working knowledge of Cloudera Data Lake and Teradata Enterprise Data Warehouse
* Demonstrated experience delivering data analytics solutions for large, complex environments
* Strong analytical and problem solving capability
* Excellent written communication skills with the ability to explain complex information clearly
* Experience working with competing priorities in fast paced environments
* Ability to operate with autonomy and sound judgement
Working arrangements
This role requires an initial onsite commitment for approximately 6 weeks, after which a hybrid working arrangement may be considered. Candidates must be based within reasonable travel distance of Canberra or Melbourne to attend onsite as required.
