and seeking to appoint a
Senior Operations Manager
to lead trading operations locally in Sydney. This is a senior, hands-on role with responsibility for ensuring the operational readiness, regulatory alignment, and scalability of post-trade and client money operations, particularly across CFD and leveraged products.
The ideal applicant will have several years of hands-on equity markets and OTC middle office and operations experience
, ideally with previous experience with retail equity, FX and CFD products. Ideally you will have a strong middle office and operations background, combined with some SQL database knowledge, and have a technical acumen across operations and accounting. You will have strong trade recs knowledge, and be a dynamic, motivational team leader, to help mentor the small ops function as this team grows in Australia.
Description:
* Act as the most senior operations lead in our trading business, overseeing the operational readiness and execution across all post-trade and client money workflows.
* Develop, maintain, and enhance robust end-to-end operations processes for complex financial products, including handling of margining, client funding flows, reconciliations, and corporate action lifecycles.
* Bring deep understanding of leveraged and derivative trading instruments (e.g., CFDs), with the ability to apply that knowledge to shape compliant and scalable operations frameworks.
* Collaborate with Finance, Compliance, Legal, and Product teams to align operational processes with ASIC requirements, especially in line with RG212, RG166, and other applicable regulatory guidelines.
Skills and experience:
* Proven experience in CFD trading operations, including operational workflows, client money handling, reconciliation, and margin monitoring.
* Strong understanding of ASIC regulations applicable to CFDs, including RG212, RG166, and other relevant guidance.
* 5+ years of experience in financial services operations, with increasing levels of responsibility.
* Advanced SQL proficiency and hands-on experience with MySQL or similar database tools.
* Understanding of basic accounting principles and general ledger flows.
