As a Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for supporting the Financial Controller in carrying out financial accounting responsibilities for the Australian and New Zealand group and joint venture companies. You will have experience in financial year end processes, in documenting and assessing control procedures.
Job Description
The following responsibilities and qualifications outline your role as a Financial Accountant.
Day To Day
* Perform internal controls and risk framework testing. Proactively address and remediate identified risks, update documentation for any control procedure changes, and close process gaps through proper documentation and correction.
* Execute month‐end reporting control (MEC) procedures.
* Coordinate and liaise with external auditors, including reviewing reconciliations and work papers prior to submission. Prepare and compile supporting documentation and work papers for year‐end audit requirements.
* Take a lead role in preparing and consolidating annual financial statements.
* Participate in finance initiatives aimed at enhancing reporting, streamlining processes, and supporting various improvement projects.
* Review and ensure accurate submission of reports and survey forms to the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA), Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), and Statistics New Zealand (Stats NZ).
* Provide ad‐hoc support to the Financial Controller and CFO as required.
Your Profile
* Proven experience in designing, implementing, and documenting internal controls and procedures.
* Strong audit background; professional qualification preferred (ideally CA).
* Skilled in building and maintaining effective relationships with internal stakeholders, including teams across multiple time zones.
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel with working knowledge of Power BI.
* Experience with Microsoft Great Plains General Ledger and Hyperion Financial Management, or similar general ledger and reporting systems, highly regarded.
* Exceptional analytical and problem‐solving abilities.
* Proactive approach with a strong commitment to meeting deadlines.
* Demonstrated business acumen and analytical capability.
* Adaptable and able to manage competing priorities effectively.
Extras
* Experience with reporting to a global organisation and having an understanding of global reporting demands.
* Experience in banking/finance preferably with a leasing company.
