Council is now accepting applications for the below apprenticeship or traineeship positions to commence in 2026.Are you ready to kickstart a career in the mechanical industry.
Do you want to learn and develop practical skills while working on Council's fleet of trucks, cars, earthmoving equipment and small motors.This4-year apprenticeshipoffers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced tradespersons.
You'll assist with repairs, modifications and routine servicing of engines, cooling systems, transmissions, clutches, hydraulics and braking systems.
On completion you'll obtain a Certificate III in Engineering - Fixed and Mobile Plant Mechanic.Your work will help ensure Council's plant and equipment remain safe, reliable and fully operational - supporting vital services across the region.Apprentice Fitter (2933)Are you curious about how pumps, valves, compressors and water treatment plants work?
Join us as an Apprentice Fitter and build hands-on skills in this field.As an Apprentice Fitter you will work alongside experienced tradespersons and engineers to learn the ropes of fitting and machining.
You will be involved in assembling, installing, fabricating, maintaining and troubleshooting equipment used within our water and sewerage network infrastructure ensuring they operate efficiently and safely.On completion of your 4 year apprenticeship you will obtain a Certificate III Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Maintenance-Fitting/Machining) and with such a broad range of skills gained it will open doors for a career as a Fitter in many different industries!
This is a fantastic opportunity to build a solid foundation in mechanical fitting while making a meaningful impact in your local community.Information Technology Support Trainee (3461)Are you passionate about working with computers and IT systems?
This traineeship offers you the chance to develop your skills in computer use, software applications and IT support while assisting Council employees with their IT queries.This 2 year apprenticeship will see you working and studying towards a Certificate III in Information Technology.

Commitment to safety in the workplace.Commitment to learn and complete the apprenticeship or traineeship.Sound level of numeracy and literacy skills.Possess and maintain a current provisional or open motor vehicle driver licence (or ability to obtain provisional licence within 6 months once eligible).
With support of the Skilling Queenslanders for Work – First Start Program Government funding, Council is offering 3 apprenticeship and traineeships positions.
To be considered for these opportunities, applicants must:Be aged 15 years or older and no longer at school (at time of commencement of apprenticeship or traineeship).
Be able to meet citizenship, residency and visa requirements to undertake an apprenticeship or traineeship.Not currently registered as an apprentice or trainee with another employer.Not have a qualification that is equal to or higher than the qualification you would receive by undertaking Council's apprenticeship or traineeship.Hold a Certificate III or higher in an unrelated field completed within the last 7 years (unless obtained during high school).
