We are seeking a Communications Specialist to join our team in a key role.
About the Role
The Communications Specialist will work closely with senior executives and stakeholders to develop and execute strategic communications plans. This includes managing media relations, crafting key messages, and creating engaging content for various channels.
Experience in leading high-level strategic advice on complex communications is essential, as well as strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to operate effectively in a politically sensitive environment and interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.
1. Provide proactive and reactive media support through collaboration with central teams.
2. Offer high-level strategic media management, public relations, and crisis communication leadership and advice to Minister's offices.
3. Provide high-level journalistic, editing, and copywriting expertise, and manage writing responsibilities for the Office.
4. Support coordination and monitoring of whole-of-government media management and crisis communications policies and procedures.
5. Prepare media releases, statements, speeches, correspondence, and reports as required.
Qualifications and Skills
* High level of experience in leading, developing, and implementing high-level strategic advice on complex communications.
* High level of interpersonal and stakeholder management skills to maintain open and effective relationships with clients, including senior executives, managers, ministers, consultants, and the media.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills to communicate key messages to diverse stakeholders.
* Practical knowledge and experience of communication and marketing tools and processes, including use of diverse media in regional community consultation and communication strategies.
* Proven ability to operate astutely in a politically sensitive environment, apply strategic and lateral thinking, and maintain high integrity, discretion, and confidentiality.
* Ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.
