Job Title: Arts Team Leader
About the Role
* As a key member of the Arts and Culture team, you will provide leadership to arts staff with a strong focus on History and Heritage.
* You will oversee staff across History, Heritage, and Galleries, working towards bringing Council's cultural collections and programming into a cohesive framework.
Responsibilities
* You will work within the Arts and Culture Leadership Group to lead collaboration within the wider Arts and Culture team.
* You will plan for and instigate arts and cultural initiatives that continue to evolve Glen Eira City Council as a place where people gather for inspiration, education, entertainment, and connection.
* You will deliver a program of exhibitions, programs, and interpretation that attract and interest new audiences and repeat visitors.
About You
* You will bring expertise in arts and cultural programming, with a strong understanding of gallery operations and heritage collection management.
* You will enjoy working collaboratively to deliver engaging exhibitions and public programs that inspire, educate, and connect diverse audiences.
* You will commit to preserving local history and enhancing community participation through creative initiatives.
Requirements
* Tertiary qualification in history, museum studies, art curatorship, or a relevant discipline is essential.
* Experience in historical collection development, assessment, and recording, together with knowledge of archival principles and practices, is highly desirable.
* Demonstrated strong writing skills for documentation of research, preparation of reports, correspondence, and project documentation are required.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and liaison skills, and the ability to work well and influence outcomes with a variety of stakeholders, are necessary.
