Overview
The Finance Content Graduate plays a key role in supporting Canstar's Finance Editorial team by researching, writing and publishing accurate and engaging consumer-finance content. Working alongside journalists, SEO experts, researchers and marketers, the graduate contributes to articles that help Australians make confident, informed financial decisions. It's an excellent entry point for anyone looking to build a career in specialist finance journalism.
Key Responsibilities
1. Research, write and update various types of finance content, including: explainer articles, product-comparison pages and breaking-news pieces.
2. Source and pitch your own content and story ideas based on consumer and industry trends
3. Proactively source and pitch story ideas based on emerging consumer and industry trends
4. Apply Canstar's tone of voice, editorial standards and SEO guidelines to ensure content is engaging, accessible and search-optimised
5. Conduct interviews with internal and external finance experts to add depth and authority to your content
6. Upload and format articles in the content management system (CMS) to ensure a clear and user-friendly presentation
* Track the performance of your content and use insights to inform future improvements and content updates
Other Duties
Additional editorial duties (such as image sourcing, digital uploading, internal content requests etc.) may be required at the discretion of the Finance Editor and Editor-in-Chief. Required Skills & Experience
7. 1–2 years' experience in a content, journalism or editorial role
8. Knowledge of SEO best practices
9. Ability to produce high-quality content to deadlines
10. Comfortable with numerical or financial concepts
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced commercial environment
Desirable skills
11. Experience working with a content management system (WordPress experience advantageous)
12. A good eye for data visualisation and engaging imagery
* An interest in consumer finance, business or economics journalism
