Role - Senior Network Security Engineer (NV1 Preferred)
We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to support and enhance complex network security infrastructure within a 24x7, safety-critical environment. This permanent role requires strong technical capability across enterprise network security platforms and a solid understanding of government security frameworks.

Key Responsibilities
· Support and maintain complex network security gateway infrastructure
· Manage and optimise NGFW, BGP, traffic engineering, load balancing, and secure remote access solutions
· Administer and support Web Proxy, Reverse Proxy, WAF, IPS/IDS, and VPN environments
· Identify, detect, respond to and mitigate security vulnerabilities and threats
· Contribute to systems engineering activities and formal change control processes
· Ensure compliance with Australian Government ISM and PSPF security frameworks
· Provide technical documentation for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
· Analyse business requirements and develop solutions to address capability gaps
· Operate effectively within a 24x7, safety-first operational environment
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Capabilities & Experience
7+ years' experience supporting complex network security infrastructure deployments
Strong understanding of Network Security Gateway architecture
Hands-on experience with Cisco, Palo Alto, Check Point, F5, and Infoblox technologies
Proven experience managing BGP, traffic engineering, load balancing, and secure network design
Demonstrated experience identifying and mitigating security vulnerabilities using analytical tools
Strong understanding of IT security principles including ISM and PSPF
Experience working within structured systems engineering and change management environments
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently with minimal direction
Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
Qualifications & Clearance
Diploma (minimum) in IT, Engineering, or related field
Australian Citizenship (mandatory)
Must hold an active Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) Security Clearance or be eligible to obtain one
Advanced certifications in Cisco, Palo Alto, Check Point, F5, or Infoblox (industry experience may be considered in lieu)
Highly desirable: AWS Advanced Networking / Security or Microsoft Azure certifications
Highly desirable: CPEng or RPEng eligibility
Desirable: CISSP, ISSEP, or Degree in Engineering / IT
