We have an exciting opportunity for a Professional Indemnity Consultant Specialised Claims to join IAG. This role is responsible for managing a portfolio of Professional Indemnity claims that require careful assessment, consistent decision making and strong alignment with legal and policy requirements. You will work across a mix of high value and technically detailed matters, including litigated files and project specific policies. The work involves applying legal and technical understanding, maintaining financial discipline and progressing claims in a timely and accurate way. You will be part of a specialised team that works collaboratively and supports consistent approaches across the portfolio.This is a permanent full-time role based in Naarm (Melbourne), Meanjin (Brisbane), Tarndanya (Adelaide) or Gadigal Country (Darling Park 2, Sydney).
What You'll Do
Manage Professional Indemnity claims from notification through to resolution, including litigated and high value matters. Provide clear and timely instructions to external legal partners to support defensible strategies. Communicate technical and legal issues clearly to customers and stakeholders. Set and review reserves within your delegation, applying sound financial and risk discipline. Build effective working relationships with intermediaries, legal partners and internal colleagues. Contribute to consistent approaches, knowledge sharing and collaborative problem solving within the team. Escalate matters appropriately when they fall outside delegated authority.
What You'll Bring
Experience handling Professional Indemnity claims, including management of litigation and negotiated settlements, alternatively, transferable skills from claims management in other liability insurance classes (e.g., Public Liability, Product Liability) or a strong foundation in law, commercial litigation, and dispute resolution. A Law degree and legal experience in dispute resolution, or prior experience as a liability insurance professional, is highly regarded. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret complex information and make sound decisions. A keen interest in developing expertise in Professional Indemnity insurance. Ability to direct and work constructively with external lawyers. Clear written and verbal communication that supports confident decision making. Strong judgement when working with complex or evolving information. Effective stakeholder and relationship management skills. A collaborative working style that supports consistency across the team. Ability to manage administrative requirements and maintain organised file management.
