Period of Appointment

Permanent / Full time / 73.5 per fortnight

The role

As Principal Consultant – Conduct and Standards, you will manage a diverse caseload of conduct investigations, complex people management matters and enquiries, including reportable conduct matters. You will lead assessments and targeted investigations, managing matters from intake through to resolution, and provide expert advice to People and Culture, managers, the Director People and Culture and executive leadership on investigation and resolution strategies.

Working closely with a team of industrial and workplace relations specialists, you will contribute to the development and continuous improvement of policies, guidelines and resources that strengthen grievance management and resolution capability across DPFEM. You will have carriage of highly complex matters and ensure all work is delivered within required timeframes.

Key responsibilities
* Lead the management of complex conduct, investigation and people management matters, including reportable conduct, Code of Conduct breaches and matters referred by external bodies.
* Provide strategic, practical advice on managing complex conduct and investigative matters in line with policy, governance and compliance requirements.
* Conduct high‐quality preliminary inquiries, assessments and targeted investigations; develop recommendations and support implementation of outcomes.
* Deliver timely, expert guidance on professional standards, misconduct, discipline and resolution of complex matters.
* Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including People and Culture, unions, managers, employees, volunteers, external review bodies and the State Service Management Office.
* Represent the Department in internal and external forums.
* Contribute to the review, development and implementation of contemporary conduct and professional standards policies, frameworks and guidelines.
* Prepare and review briefs, submissions, strategies and presentations relating to conduct, investigation and performance matters.
* Undertake other duties consistent with the role's responsibilities and level of expertise.
Desirable Skills and Experience
* Knowledge of best practice human resource management, Tasmania's Reportable Conduct Scheme, workplace relations legislation and contemporary practice
* Successful completion of a tertiary degree in Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations, or a related discipline; or
* Previous experience in a similar role.

* Deception (e.g. obtaining an advantage by deception);

* Malicious damage and destruction to property
* Trafficking of narcotic substance;
* False alarm raising.
