About The OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Maritime Sustainment business, working on the newest ship platform, the Hobart Class DDG naval ships. Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager, you will be employed on a permanent full time basis and will be situated at Garden Island (Potts Point), Sydney location. Other interstate locations will also be considered for the opportunity.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, including working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.
Key Responsibilities Include
* Provide electrical engineering services and manage the engineering change activities, ensuring the effective development/modification of electrical equipment, systems, structures and materials
* Conduct the technical review of electrical system artefacts, acting as the Design Acceptance Representative (DAR) on behalf of the Commonwealth of Australia
* Review and certify electrical/electronic engineering designs and documents
* Collaborate and build good relationships with the customer, industry partners, internal and external stakeholders, maintaining a positive culture within the program
* Act as an integrated member of the team and provide technical and project management leadership and oversight
* Provide program reporting on electrical engineering status including risks, issues, open actions and resourcing
* Drive culture of engineering best practice, efficiency and continuous improvement
About YOU
* Extensive electrical or electronic engineering experience
* A tertiary engineering degree in electrical or electronics – Eligibility or working towards Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status
* Electrical/Electronic engineering design and installation experience
* Good communication skills, written and verbal, and good customer stakeholder management skills
* Self-driven, the ability to work autonomously and with multiple project priorities, and the ability to solve electrical/electronic technical problems
* Whilst not essential, experience reviewing and certifying electrical/electronic engineering artefacts or Defence industry experience, will be highly regarded
