The Team
The team supports the Department of Health Tasmania by delivering reliable, hands‐on maintenance and minor works across health facilities to ensure safe, functional, and welcoming environments for patients, staff, and visitors. Working collaboratively with clinical, facilities, and administrative teams, Maintenance Officers (Handypersons) respond to day‐to‐day maintenance requests, undertake preventative tasks, and contribute to timely problem‐solving. The team is customer‐focused, safety‐conscious, and adaptable, taking pride in quality workmanship, compliance with standards, and supporting the smooth operation of essential health services.
The Role
Provide an efficient and effective maintenance, gardening and handyperson service to the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) and satellite sites as directed.
Responsibilities
* Perform regular maintenance duties for Department sites including pressure cleaning, steam cleaning, carpet cleaning, weed spraying, floor polishing, window and glass cleaning.
* Perform gardening duties, including shrubs, flowers, and lawn maintenance, pruning, spraying, feeding and fertilising of indoor and outdoor plants, pots and tubs, including clinical spaces.
* Wash walls and ceilings, remove, clean and replace air vents and light covers.
Eligibility & Skills
* Current Driver's Licence.
* All registrations and licences essential to the role must remain current and valid throughout employment; a breach will be investigated.
Salary
$63,110 to $66,049 per annum. The Employer pays a 12 % superannuation contribution on top of this amount. The salary range is in accordance with the Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.
