Research Assistant $76,284 - $83,268 (pro rata, part-time) + 17% Superannuation
About The role
Working as a Research Assistant for the School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences, the Research Assistant will be part of a large program of work focused on plant-based protein diets and their effects on muscle health in older adults. Conducting randomised controlled trials designed to assess the impact of plant-based protein diets on muscle protein synthesis, you'll also manage subject recruitment and study logistics, including dietary intervention, health assessments, sample collection, and surveys.
We are seeking an assistant with excellent communication and sharp analytical skills, proven experience in conducting research, report editing, and a strong understanding of research processes.

As a Research Assistant you will
Provide high level support to Chief Investigator and research team
Manage subject recruitment and logistics of the study involving dietary intervention, health assessments, assisting with blood and muscle collection and surveys
Consult with research staff to provide a range of administrative support activities, including meeting coordination, drafting presentations, papers and reports, maintaining databases and administrative systems
Work with research academic staff and laboratory technicians in the delivery of the research project, including the implementation of research quality control systems and procedures
Act as events coordinator for significant research events, seminars, visits including conferences and symposia
Utilise the research-specific IT systems and applications to assist with research and analysis, including data modelling, data mining
To be successful, you'll have
A degree in a relevant area, from a recognised university with experience as a research administrator OR an appropriate combination of experience and training
Comfortable performing experiments alone without close guidance or supervision
Excellent written communication and verbal communication skills with proven ability to effectively analyse information and produce clear, succinct reports and documents which require interaction with others
Well-developed analytical skills, with the ability to interpret legislative and University policies and procedures, investigate research opportunities and decipher funding requirements
Experience undertaking the research publications data collection process
Experience conducting randomised clinical trials involving humans. (Desirable)
