About the role
HPS Pharmacies is seeking a seasoned hospital pharmacy manager to lead a team of Deputy Directors of Pharmacy in the delivery of dispensary, clinical, and oncology pharmacy services to Gold Coast Private Hospital. As a Director of Pharmacy, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the operations of the hospital pharmacy, in conjunction with Pharmacy Proprietors, HPS Senior Operations, and Hospital Executive teams. This is a full-time position, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on quality improvement, stakeholder relations, and patient health outcomes.
What you'll be doing
* Overseeing all hospital pharmacy services from HPS Gold Coast including dispensary, imprest, clinical, and oncology operations.
* Partner with Deputy Director of Dispensary to ensure medicine supply to hospital inpatients, outpatients, and the wider community is undertaken according to state and federal legislations and pharmacy council guidelines, and within the appropriate timeframes.
* Work collaboratively with the Deputy Director of Pharmacy - Clinical to enable ward-based clinical pharmacy services that support admission, inpatient, and discharge clinical requirements, documentation, and KPIs.
* Support the Deputy Director of Oncology with cancer care services to day-patients and inpatients of the Day Infusion and Cancer Care Inpatient wards, respectively.
* Together with the oncology team, ensure onsite compounding and reconstitution practices are according to state, federal, and local cancer-care guidelines, and are supplied in the most economical and efficient way to patients and the hospital.
* Collaborate with Hospital Executive, Nurse Unit Managers, and Clinical Leaders on continuous quality improvement initiatives pertaining to National Standard 4 accreditation requirements.
* Represent Pharmacy at Hospital Operational and Clinical committees and meetings.
* Responsibility for pharmacy performance including commercials, inventory management, quality and risk, work health and safety, and regulatory compliance.
* Promoting continued professional development and training for the pharmacy team.
* Promoting a positive team culture.
What we're looking for
* Registered Pharmacist with a current Australian Pharmacy Board license and indemnity insurance.
* Minimum of 5 years' experience in hospital pharmacy operations with demonstrated leadership skills in a public and/or private hospital setting, similar hospital pharmacy setting, or management setting.
* Recent hospital pharmacy management experience, ideally in a similar role.
* Ability to manage a fast-paced environment, high script number, and highly acute hospital client with complex needs.
* Proven experience managing diverse stakeholders, including the ability to tailor communications and approach to suit different stakeholders and teams.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with healthcare teams.
* Familiarity with pharmacy-related regulations, standards, and quality assurance processes.
* Highly organised with the ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure.
