**The Role**
The Paralegal/Administrative assistant is responsible for providing timely and effective administrative and operational support to the well-established and well-respected Information Law Team within the Legal and Assurance Division. They manage the team's group mailboxes, set up matters, assist with reporting on freedom of information requests and perform other ad hoc tasks. The team provides legal services in relation to matters arising under the Privacy Act 1988, the Freedom of Information Act 1982, the Data Availability and Transparency Act 2022 and portfolio legislation (where secrecy provisions are applicable). Given DEWR's broad portfolio responsibilities for employment, skills, workplace relations and workforce from overseas, the team is involved in very diverse and interesting work.

**Skills and Capabilities**
We are seeking an individual with the following skills and capabilities:

- A high degree of conscientiousness with the ability to manage multiple priorities and ensure work is completed by the deadlines.
- An ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- An ability to quickly learn and navigate data management systems and strong attention to detail.
- An ability to research and analyse information and make recommendations based on evidence.
- An ability to work independently once given initial instructions
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with others and be receptive to feedback.

**The Opportunity**
This position is available to Ongoing Department of Employment and Workplace Relations and/or APS employees as a temporary transfer at level and/or a temporary performance (Acting) opportunity for a period of 5 months.

**Qualifications and Education**
- Previous administration experience is desirable.
