Early Childhood Development Specialist
The role of a speech pathologist or occupational therapist in a children's centre is multifaceted and challenging.
They work in partnership with families, government and non-government sector colleagues across community, home and learning environments to provide evidence-based services drawing upon key frameworks including attachment theory, trauma informed practice, cultural responsiveness.
A strengths-based approach is used when working with children, families and colleagues to promote positive outcomes and build strong relationships.
Student Support Services are on a cultural response journey, as such we value and prioritise Aboriginal ways of knowing, doing and being.
To be successful in this role, applicants must have a degree in speech pathology or occupational therapy and be registered with the relevant professional body.
Additionally, they should have experience working with children and families, as well as knowledge of attachment theory and trauma informed practice.
The successful applicant will be required to undergo a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check prior to being employed, which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide evidence-based services drawing upon key frameworks including attachment theory, trauma informed practice, cultural responsiveness.

* Work in partnership with families, government and non-government sector colleagues across community, home and learning environments.
Qualifications
* Speech Pathologist: An appropriate degree or equivalent which gives eligibility for full membership with Speech Pathology Australia.
* Desirable: Current practising membership with Speech Pathology Australia with Certified Practising Speech Pathologist (CPSP) status.
* Occupational Therapist: Current and full registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
* Desirable: Nil.
Special Conditions
* The successful applicant is required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.
This is a part-time contract role until 30 June 2027.
