Sous Chef – Hobsons Bay Hotel
Hobsons Bay Hotel is on the lookout for a talented and experienced Sous Chef to join our passionate kitchen team. We are a busy, community-focused pub known for our high-quality seasonal menu, great atmosphere, and commitment to excellence.
About the Role:
As Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Head Chef to ensure smooth daily operations in the kitchen. You’ll take a hands-on role in food preparation, maintain high standards of presentation and consistency, and support the team to deliver exceptional dining experiences for our guests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen
- Lead and motivate kitchen staff, ensuring a positive and efficient working environment
- Oversee food preparation, cooking, and presentation to a consistently high standard
- Maintain compliance with food safety, hygiene, and OH&S; regulations
- Assist with ordering, stock control, and waste management
- Contribute to menu planning and seasonal dish development
About You:
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar leadership role within a busy kitchen
- Strong knowledge of pub dining, seasonal produce, and contemporary cooking techniques
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- A hands-on, team-focused approach with attention to detail
- Flexibility to work across days, nights, weekends, and public holidays
