Provide a range of quality health care services that assist in the prevention, early detection, and management of health problems within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.

- Identified Role: Under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), it is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
- An Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person is a person who:
- identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person; and either
- is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent; or
- is accepted as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community in which he or she lives.

The Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service (TCHHS) is an independent statutory body governed by a single Board, and managed from hubs in Weipa, Cairns and Thursday Island. It is the most northerly of Queensland's Hospital and Health Services and covers over 158,000km2 across 13 local government areas.
