About this Role
Grant Thornton Australia is looking for a Manager/Senior Manager, Data Analytics to join our growing Financial Advisory analytics team in Sydney. You'll work with internal stakeholders (partners, deal teams and other service lines) and external clients to translate business problems into actionable data/AI projects, deliver high‐quality solutions, and help shape our analytics footprint in Sydney.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the growth of the Sydney analytics capability through strong stakeholder relationships, high‐quality delivery and reusable solutions.
* Shape analytics opportunities from ambiguous business problems, structuring work into practical, high‐impact deliverables for clients and internal teams.
* Identify data sources, gather relevant information, and perform ETL.
* Conduct exploratory data analysis to uncover patterns, trends and anomalies that inform decision‐making.
* Develop and maintain data models, dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI, SQL, Python, Databricks and Alteryx.
* Lead Agile delivery cadences (backlog, sprint planning, stand‐ups, reviews) and manage work in Azure DevOps, including code reviews and QA checks.
* Provide actionable insights and recommendations based on data findings, and present clear narratives for both technical and non‐technical audiences.
* Mentor and coach junior analysts, fostering a culture of quality, reuse and continuous improvement.
Skills and Experience
* Significant experience as a Data Analyst or Analytics Consultant, preferably in a professional services environment, with comfort serving both internal stakeholders and external clients.
* Strong technical skills in SQL and Python, with experience across Databricks/Spark and Power BI; familiarity with Alteryx (or similar) is a plus.
* Demonstrated delivery leadership using Agile ways of working and Azure DevOps.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams, adapting communication for technical and non‐technical stakeholders.
* Proven ability to lead projects and mentor team members, setting clear standards and uplifting capability.
Desirable
* Experience in transactions, financial advisory, or other project‐based professional services environments.
* Exposure to data product thinking, reusable analytics assets, or scalable solution design.
* Experience delivering advanced AI solutions, including agentic workflows, orchestration, and enterprise‐grade implementation.
