Senior Financial Leader
About the Position:
This role is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing the company's financial, commercial and administrative functions. The Senior Financial Leader reports directly to the CEO and is part of the Perth-based executive team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Planning & Financial Oversight
* Develop and drive short- and long-term financial strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
* Provide financial modelling, forecasting, and scenario analysis to support investment decisions.
* Prepare management and board-level reports with clear performance insights.
2. Accounting & Compliance
* Oversee the full financial reporting cycle under Australian Accounting Standards and IFRS.
* Ensure compliance with tax regulations, audit requirements, and statutory obligations.
* Lead the external audit process and maintain relationships with auditors and tax advisors.
3. Commercial Management
* Review, negotiate, and manage key commercial agreements, supplier contracts.
* Contribute commercial insights to project management and place internal controls over operations.
* Align procurement and supplier performance with commercial goals, prepare or review quotations.
4. Budgeting & Cost Control
* Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets.
* Monitor financial performance against budgets and deliver detailed cost analysis.
* Promote financial discipline and transparency across departments.
5. Leadership & Team Development
* Lead the Finance and Administration team to deliver accurate reporting and commercial support.
* Foster a culture of performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
* Mentor team members and support their professional development.
6. Systems & Process Improvement
* Oversee ERP and financial systems, ensuring effective reporting and data integrity.
* Standardise financial processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
7. Reporting & Communication
* Deliver timely, accurate financial reports to the CFO.
* Ensure all reports meet internal standards and audit requirements.
* Collaborate with internal teams to embed financial and commercial frameworks.
Requirements:
* Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, or Finance (CPA or CA preferred)
* 10+ years of senior financial and commercial experience in the mining or heavy industry sector
* Proven leadership of finance teams in multi-site and cross-border environments
* Strong understanding of Australian financial regulations and reporting standards
* Skilled in contract negotiation and commercial risk analysis
* Advanced ERP/accounting systems and Excel modelling expertise
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
