About the RoleWe’re seeking a skilled and detail-focused Draftsperson to join our team at ACT Steelworks. This role is responsible for creating clear, accurate shop drawings to support the fabrication and installation of steel structures. You’ll attend sites to take measurements, interpret technical specifications, and prepare detailed plans that align with engineering requirements, the National Construction Code (NCC), and relevant Australian Standards. Your work will be essential in transforming design intent into practical solutions that meet compliance and drive successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct precise site measurements to support drawing accuracy.
Produce high-quality shop drawings for fabrication and installation.
Ensure compliance with Australian Standards and the NCC.
Maintain drawing documentation, including version control and traceability.
Prepare DXF files for waterjet and plasma cutting.
Generate NC data for the beamline to enable efficient workshop production.
What We’re Looking ForWe’re seeking someone with excellent communication skills, a proactive work ethic, and a desire to learn and grow. You’ll need:
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Tekla, and ideally SolidWorks.
Strong interpretation skills of technical drawings and construction specs.
Solid knowledge of steel fabrication and manufacturing processes.
The ability to identify and solve design or constructability issues quickly.
Great time management and multitasking abilities.
A collaborative mindset with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
