Hardings Group (Tas) Pty Ltd is a locally owned and operated civil construction business based in Ulverstone on Tasmania's North West Coast. Employing more than 100 people, Hardings delivers integrated civil construction, road surfacing, traffic management and linemarking services across Tasmania.
Our people are at the heart of what we do, and our continued growth means we're looking for committed individuals to join our team.
About the role
We're currently seeking Casual Traffic Controllers to join our expanding Traffic Management team. As our work is primarily based across the North West and crews operate out of our Ulverstone depot, being within a reasonable commuting distance is important for success in the role.
We have opportunities available for both new entrants to the industry and experienced traffic controllers. The role is well‐suited to individuals who enjoy working outdoors, value safety, and are comfortable in a fast‐paced, dynamic environment.
Because our work often responds to project needs and changing site conditions, some weekend work, night shifts, and short‐notice call‐outs may be required. For this reason, flexibility and availability are important.
As a Traffic Controller, you'll help ensure safe and efficient worksite operations by:
* Setting up and operating traffic control devices on Category 1 & 2 sites
* Directing vehicle and pedestrian traffic
* Following Traffic Guidance Schemes (TGS) and site safety procedures
* Maintaining documentation such as timesheets, logbooks, and traffic management records
* Upholding strong safety and housekeeping standards on all sites
Who we're looking for
Ideal for those new to construction or with limited experience. You'll work under supervision and receive on‐the‐job support while you build your capability.
Experienced Traffic Controllers
We also welcome applications from experienced controllers capable of:
* Running Category 1 & 2 sites
* Interpreting and adjusting TGS within scope
* Supervising and mentoring team members
* Planning sequencing and identifying resource requirements
* Operating specialised traffic management equipment
* Experience completing safety documentation (e.g., prestarts, hazards, incidents)
Required tickets & licences
* Construction White Card
* Traffic Controller accreditation (TC1 & TMI1)
* TC2, TMI2
* First Aid
Competitive remuneration with a reliable weekly pay cycle
Award‐based pay structure includes overtime and penalty rates that support strong earning capacity, depending on project needs and hours worked
Potential for ongoing, full-time employment depending on business needs
Supportive and collaborative team environment
Opportunities to work across diverse range of civil and infrastructure projects
Access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for you and your immediate family
Opportunities for training, development, and upskilling
A values‐driven workplace committed to People, Safety, Relationships, and Quality
