Where you'll be working
South East Regional Hospital (SERH) is a newly built, architecturally designed hospital in Bega with expansive views of the Bega Valley. It is 429 kilometres South of Sydney, 228 kilometres from Canberra or 174 kilometres from the NSW snow fields. Nearby Merimbula (32 kilometres) offers a regional airport with daily flights to Sydney and Melbourne. With many beautiful coastal towns, national parks, snow fields and beaches within a short driving distance, it is the perfect location for those looking to for a family-friendly area with great work‐life balance. There are many outdoor activities to enjoy including fishing, hiking, swimming, camping, walking, mountain biking and whale watching to just name a few. For young families looking to relocate to the region, there is the newly established Welcome Experience to help with finding work for spouses, schooling, childcare and integration into the local community.
South East Regional Hospital is the regional referral centre for the expansive south coast regions from Bateman's Bay to Cooma and down past the Victorian border to Mallacoota. The state‐of‐the‐art hospital is equipped with 3 operating theatres, ICU, 5 inpatient wards and outpatient services. There is shared JMO lounge.
Fully furnished shared accommodation is usually provided to registrars by the hospital.
What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of the position is to provide quality care to patients in a complex clinical environment. Medical Officers will work under an appropriate level of supervision according to their level of competence to evaluate, diagnose, treat and provide consultation to patients of all ages presenting in any condition and will work in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings.
They may be required to work at different facilities and locations within the NSW public health system. Selection Criteria
* AHPRA Registration with Level 2 Supervision and above.
* MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
* Demonstrated ability to complete rotations as allocated and required, and to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgement and expertise.
* Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within multi‐disciplinary teams, including sharing appropriate information internally and externally with key persons or services.
* Demonstrated excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to vary communication style in line with the understanding of the needs of diverse audiences.
* Demonstrated ability to prioritise workloads and display a flexible approach to meet changing situations in a demanding and unpredictable clinical environment.
* Demonstrated ongoing commitment to further self‐education and professional development.
* At least three years' post‐graduate experience in a public hospital service (or equivalent).

This is a Category 'A' position, please read and understand NSW Health policy directive PD2024_015. All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. OASV requirements also include proof of vaccination against influenza and are compulsory for NSW Staff that enter any Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) or who work in NSW Health owned and operated RACFs.
