About the Role
We're looking for an enthusiastic Chef to join our friendly team in Goondiwindi.
In this rewarding role, you'll be responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering high-quality, nutritious and appetising meals that meet the dietary needs and preferences of our residents. You'll play a key role in ensuring our kitchen runs smoothly and that every dining experience reflects our values of care and respect.
Reporting to the Kitchen Coordinator, you'll lead by example — maintaining high food safety standards, inspiring creativity in menus, and contributing to Kaloma's person-centred approach to care.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and prepare nutritious, well-balanced meals tailored to residents' dietary needs and cultural preferences
* Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring food safety, hygiene, and quality standards are consistently met
* Contribute to menu development that's seasonal, creative, and resident-focused
* Train and support kitchen staff in food handling, safety and presentation
* Maintain accurate records for compliance and audits
* Provide meals and service with warmth, professionalism and compassion
What You'll Bring
Essential:
* Experience as a Chef or Cook, ideally in aged care, healthcare, or catering for large groups
* Strong culinary skills and creativity in menu planning and food presentation
* Understanding of nutrition principles and special diets for elderly residents
* Knowledge of food safety standards and safe work practices
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
* Commitment to respecting residents' rights, dignity and individuality
* Australian working rights and willingness to complete a National Police Check
Desirable:
* Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or Diploma of Hospitality Management
* Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
* Previous experience in aged care or residential settings
